Building Beloved Community

~Rev. Dean N. Prentiss, District Superintendent

Many of you have shared with me ways you are caring for one another and those in your community. These are difficult times. It can be challenging to think about the world through a lens of faith, especially when we are so often pulled apart by politics or world events.

The Greater Southwest District has purchased 16 copies of a new book published by the United Methodist Council of Bishops, Building Beloved Community: The Courage to Love in the Face of Tyranny. Bishop Bard wrote the foreword, including these words of encouragement: “As followers of Jesus in the United Methodist tradition, we stand for the dignity of all persons. We seek to do justice and offer testimony for the hope that is within us (Micah 6:8, 1 Peter 3:15). As United Methodists, we are uniquely equipped for this work…”.

If you are interested in forming a book study and would like to borrow a copy of this book, please contact the district office. You can also purchase a copy at Cokesbury or your favorite online retailer. My prayers are with you as you do no harm, do good, and stay in love with God.
