Sowing Seeds, Sewing Hope

~Pastor Miriam Peralta

At Semilla, our sewing classes have always been about more than just mastering a stitch or following a pattern. We believe that every skill we gain is a gift meant to be shared, that everyone has something to be blessed. Now in our third cycle of offering this class, that mission of “giving back from what we have learned” remains the heartbeat of our time together.

This mission flows directly from our core vision: to bring hope to every heart and purpose to every life. This year, our participants, most of them farmworkers, leveled up their skills to create large, durable tote bags. These weren’t just practice projects; they were vessels of joy. We are proud to share that the class completed six beautiful totes, filling them with toys and board games to support the children served by the Young Center for immigrant children’s rights.

By transforming fabric into functional gifts, our students are learning that their hands can build bridges of support within our community. We are so grateful for your continued partnership, which allows Semilla to remain a space where creativity meets compassion, where faith and love are put into action, and where every participant can find a meaningful way to serve and bless according with their capacities.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us.
